grow local / buy local / support local
Students from Koondrook Primary School tend to and harvest crops from their vegetable garden for sale at the local farmer's market. It may be a tiny example but in a global context, these students are local producers. They grow, harvest and sell vegetables and herbs (and eggs from their chook pen) to a local farmer's market, then invest the money back into their tiny farm to continue their operations. The students are provided with the right tools and knowledge to tend to their crops. They are supported and guided along the way by adults, and given access to a tiny local economy - a local farmer's market - to sell their produce. They are an example of what can be achieved with the right support.
